I bought a deck of tarot cards months ago. I've cleansed and consecrated the deck. I also ordered a book online and I've started reading about tarot readings etc. I don't understand how the cards can be used for divination. Am I missing a point somewhere? Mab

I think that tarot is a great way to divine. The thing is that I find it harder to get yes and no questions out of them, since the cards have individual meanings, instead of yes and no. If I have one like that, then I try to go by intuition if the meaning of the card applies to a yes answer, or no answer. Generally I've had a lot of success with people because they want to know answers to questions about their life, situations, people, love, money and so on. So an example is "Should I take that new job?" It could be a yes or no question, but if a card turns up that shows them changing positions getting a pay raise, I might say yes (especially if it pays more). But if it shows them being blocked by someone, or wanting to get a new line of work, I might say no because the meaning is slightly on the negative side. But most sessions I do aren't along those lines, the meaning is usually very clear and the cards are straightforward because the questions are more open ended. I hope this helps!

I've recently received a deck of tarot cards from my mother and I'm also not really experienced with it.
The link is very useful and I have a small book about tarot cards describing almost the same information as in the link.

I bought a big thick book (I love books, my daughter has kindle, she can't smell the pages, finger through and look and feel the cover, anyway) about tarot and love it, it's great for reference. I had a little book that came with the cards, but it doesn't go into the meanings like the thick book and besides it's very colorful, lol... Mab

im with you mab, i looove books:)
ive been eyeballing different books for tarot.. but everytime i go i cant seem to find one that "jumps out" at me! my cards didnt come with a booklet to describe them... instead it came with a little list that shows the numbers and then the suits.. and you kinda gotta piece them together yourself how you think that they will fit.... i think im finally getting the hang of it though!
