What can I use. I was thinking about using my penticle necklace, but then I read that that wasn't what I should use.....I heard that I was supposed to use something with a bit of weight, and that was pointed.....Is this true? If so, what? :D
Thanks much!

Technically it has to be weighty and pointed. I don't do much work with the pendulum, but what I've used before when answering questions for people was their wedding band on a piece of string. I'm not sure how it works in general because I only use it to determine the sex of an unborn child, and usually it's been on point.
I think you can get a decent priced pendulum from any wiccan online shop. Try www.13moons.com (http://www.13moons.com) or one of the ads on the top of the forum. I'm working on opening up a supply store on here as well, so hopefully that will make some things easier for us all!

I don't think you'd have to use a pendulum. I think you're pentacle necklace would do fine. You mostly just need it to swing back and forth between yes and no anyways. HTH

You can use most anything with a string attached to it to a regularr pendulum. You just need to ask it yes or no questions by first asking (examople: my nake is Lisa) it will swing either back and forth or from left to right this means yes, then ask it a no question (example: Am I a male), it shoud ago in a circle which means no. ALWAYS ask the questions you know the answers to first this way you know which way is yes and no.
Ive even asked mine if it was lying to me, and it will give a yes or no answer. Be precise in your questioning, Will he come home tonight is too loose a queston Ask it is Tim coming home tonight before 8 pm. Otherwise you are likely to get a yes answer, but it might not be about Tim

You can also just say "Show me Yes" and see which way it swings. The say "show me No" mark down which one is what and ask it "show me maybe," and you're all set!

I agree. I think you can use almost anything as long as it is weighted. I personally prefer pendulums, and especially the ones that can double as both a pendulum and a pendant. I have several I wear on a necklace , and it is handy to have on hand at all times (in case the desire to divine should stike you away from home.)

I don't use a weighted pointed pendulum, I use a ring belonging to my grandfather, on a chain belonging to my father, with a very small rock-crystal pointed earring on the other end, something about it just feels right and it seems to work beautifully for me. :)
I do have a larger rock-crystal pendulum, but it makes such a beautiful necklace, and I didnt get as good results using it.
I mostly think it's all down to trial and error, trying things out and seeing what works best for you. :)

You have a very special bond with the items you are using for your pendulum, that is why you get such good results. For me, I notice that certain stones work better than others. Agate works probably the best for me, as does shiva linghams and jasper.

You can definately use more or less anything as a pendulum, its usually better if it has a bit of weight to it though.
With regard to the yes and no movements. If, like me, you work with quite a few different pendulums, its usually better to actually program your pendulum with the movements that you want it to use, instead of asking which movements it wants to use. If you're 'asking' and use different pendulums, each one might have different movements for different answers and trying to keep track of them all will be difficult. If you program them, you can program them all to use the same movements and it makes things much easier.
Of course, there is also deviceless dowsing which is great, because then it doesn't matter if you have a pendulum with you or not, cause you can still dowse.

I personally don't have much experience with Pendulums, I could never get mine to work properly, probably because I didn't spend much time with it. I have a tigers eye stone. I really want one of those cool silver ones, but they're hella expensive. I should practice more. I took it recently with me on a ghost walk, and it worked fine with other people when we communicated with the ghosts... I think I just have to build a better connect with him.
