this is kind of weird for me since nothing but bad and odd things have happened to me since the dream but let me explain i was probably around 17 or 18 and my cousin had come over to stay the night for some games and he had a Ouija board and he had went to bed and i wasn't really sleep so i messed around with it and thought it was a joke and had my hand on that triangle thing and asked some really silly questions like if there really was a spirit in my house were they smart or just really ignorant things like that.
I was a kid and wasn't really serious about it after about 30 minutes of not getting any answears i went on to bed and nothing really happened but a few nights later went to bed and i had woke up and there was this guy in my floor
in a white robe of sorts and long black hair and a short black beard. i sat up in my bed and just stared at him and for some reason i knew his name was Joe and then he told me he was saved at the Olympics.
And for reasons i still don't understand i said by the grace of god? and the room god really cold and then i saw a glow under my tv set and then i woke up again which really freaked me out and i heard this low moan at my window where i was laying and i jumped from my bed and ran to the bathroom where i was all sweaty and i washed my face off with cold water.
Since that incident all those years ago i have never had a dream since and things have happened to me i can't explain it started with my family thinking there was something wring with me so i went some where so as not to influence anyone's thoughts on this and they kept away from me for 4 years i only saw them like every few months in those 4 years .
Then i came home and thing were ok for about a year then dad got sick he got Had Agent Orange and he had bad things happen to him constantly till he finally passed 3 years ago they said it was diabetes which came from the agent orange but for certain reason we told them the diabetes killed him so things would be took care of for the funeral.
and i still havnt had any dreams till this day could it be that the waking dream i had that has stopped me from dreaming? plus i cant remember the last i went to bed at a descent hour. is there any way i can start dreaming again? i am really weary and with the things going on i think if i could dream
maybe things would feel a bit better for me.
Anyone know what i could? because i would love to dream again since i don't any more since using that Ouija board

I think subconsciously (or consciously even) you are afraid to dream. I think the brain actually dreams every night, just don't always remember it. I'm no pro at these things but it seems to me that since the last dream you remember was a very disturbing one you are afraid of what others may be, or maybe of dreaming the same thing again.
You probably need to somehow get over/past that one bad dream, and possibly the events you feel are connected to it, to be able to dream again. Or you could go bed tonight and just happen to start remembering dreams again, these things are funny that way...

Try and reset your sleep cycle as well - I went through a terrible couple of years where I simply could not sleep at night and would sleep all through the day (missing my university classes :S). A sleep cycle that is messed up to that degree is considered a type of insomnia. Don't know if sleep clinics are free where you are but you might consider going to one - they can track your sleep cycle and maybe help you get to the bottom of things.
best of luck!
p.s. before I actually went to a sleep clinic and got serious medical treatment a friend of mine made me a concoction from a chinese medicine book. Basically it's pure essence of ginger root - it reset my sleep cycle that very night (only temporary but it might help you in the meantime). Take a ginger root, skin it, and mash it up into a fine pulp and then strain it until all you have is a glass of ginger essence - it is the nastiest tasting thing (have several glasses of milk lined up so you can down it) but it should help.

Are you sure he didn't accidentally read the ancient Chinese recipe to induce vomiting? :spitwater:

I've heard of ginger for treating stomach upset but not for sleeplessness. Pure ginger seems a bit extreme too.

thats some advice i will look into but i don't think i have ever drank ginger before unless it was ginger al and i have tasted some pretty nasty stuff so i might could handle it , and it might be insomnia though im not sure because when i sleep i just don't dream and i have been told dreaming is important because it some how keeps you healthy like REM sleep which is dreaming i think and i just haven't been dreaming much. and my sleeping cycle has been off since i was a teen so im it sure how to fix it really . but im looking into things online

I think making an effort to always get up at the same time can help to establish a regular sleep schedule, and then be careful not to mess it up too much on the weekend or something. Also figure out what things are calming and what are not for you. There is alot of information online about this kind of thing. The advice of a therapist or doctor may be able to help too if either of those are available to you and nothing else seems to help.

Yeah, I like ginger ale when I'm feeling sick but this stuff worked like magic. Not half an hour later I was tired and slept soundly through the night for quite some time after that. I don't know if you could mix the ginger with something to make it taste better - he followed the recipe to the letter and it worked for me - that's all I can say on that :)

I'm not sure if this is a good idea for you or not. But someone else mentioned resetting your sleep cycle. A common way to do this is the use of melatonin. It's a chemical found naturally in the body. You can get the pills over the counter at your local drug store.
A side effect of melatonin tablets is they increase your dreaming.

That sounds really scary. :(
You do dream every night, you just don't remember dreams that don't occur during REM sleep, which is why a lot of times you wake up right in the middle of the dream.
It's possible that you've been sleeping very deeply and as a result you haven't remembered your your dreams.

that's possible because i do sleep pretty heavy sometimes but not all the times though i don't think anyway

I feel that, deep within your subconscious mind, this entire experience has left you dull/secretly not wanting to dream for fear of this happening again. If you can, cleanse your area and leave some cleansing stuff on your bed. It keeps to have a bowl of sea salt or sea salt water at your bedside. Invest in a dreamcatcher, or make one! They truly work. Ask the Gd/s for blessings in sleep.
Like others have said, I would also work scientifically in addition to cleansing. Are you getting enough REM sleep? How many hours do you sleep per day? I recommend slowly adjusting to sleep earlier, and get as much hours as you can, I recommend 9 hours at least. (Lol I have a fear of not getting enough sleep, though that's off topic). Tell yourself you WANT dreams, and soon that will make its way into your subconscious and you will be able to have dreams. Once you do, keep a dream journal and write down every little detail of the dream you can, as well as your interpretation. With enough want and work, you can achieve anything, including being able to remember dreams again :) Good luck!
(Oh, and everybody has dreams every night. It's just that most of our brains aren't able to recall them unless we train ourselves to write them down upon waking. So you do have dreams, you just don't remember them!)

If you haven't tried it yet - I'm echoing Vigidsdottir's recommendation for melatonin. It works better for some people than others (I swear by it, but my brother says it doesn't work for him at all) and be aware that it can take a week or so to work - don't expect your sleep to immediately be 'just right' the first night.
Also, avoid computers, TVs, etc. for an hour or so before sleep - anything with a bright-lit screen can 'confuse' your body/brain into thinking it's not as late as it actually is. Spend half an hour or an hour before bed doing something quiet instead (reading, meditating, anything that makes you relax) if you have the time to spare. Make an effort to go to bed (and wake up) around the same time every night - shifting bedtime around more than an hour or so screws up your sleep cycle. (Of course, that doesn't help much until AFTER you have a healthier cycle established, but it's something to keep in mind for the future. xD)
Anyway, that's my slew of advice for sleeplessness, as someone whose body randomly decides it likes to wake up at the SAME TIME early each morning every so often. XD I haven't got much experience with dreamlessness/nightmares, so I'll leave that to wiser heads. :)
(Hopefully this is still relevant...I noticed the OP is from about a month ago, lol.)

its cool its still relevant since i am still having problems sleeping and dreaming its 1 30 right now and im tired but i feel restless if you know what i mean its kind if hard to explain. i and i will try that as well anything is better than not getting good rest and i sleep in complete darkness too but that don't help much some times

I recommend 9 hours at least. (Lol I have a fear of not getting enough sleep, though that's off topic)
I hate to say, but 9 hours is probably too much sleep. One full sleep cycle lasts approximately 6hrs, so the recommended hours for an adult is 7-8 but that extra hour or so should be used to just relax your body and mind. If you sleep for 9 hours you put yourself at risk of waking up partway through a sleep cycle which actually leaves you feeling more tired than if you sleep for slightly less and have only one definite cycle.
Just a wee point to make sure you are sleeping properly too!
I do have a vague idea of what this might be like for you. For a number of years I struggled sleeping at appropriate times and would lie awake for hours, no matter how desperate I was for sleep. It was related to personal stuff...a boy who totally screwed my head up. I got over him quickly enough, but it took me far long to begin the path of getting over what he did to me. Once I had moved from denial and anger and into acceptance of what he had done, all he put me through, I began to sleep better. And now that I am in a very good place in my life and have wonderful people around me, I sleep soundly night after night.
You have mentioned a lot of bad stuff going on in your life so maybe part of you is still struggling to come to terms with that, so it's a possibility. Something to look into. I know many people who, when going through difficult emotional things in their lives, have trouble sleeping so it's something I'd suggest looking at. If you're still looking to mend this because the last reply was some time ago XD

I can't help you with dreaming, just the getting enough sleep at the right time thing because I've never actually had issues with not dreaming at all =/ So I'm sorry I can't help you with everything you need just now.

Mugwort tea will relax you and help induce dreaming. I used to smoke herbal cigarettes with mugwort, sage, mullein and lavender and it induced dreaming for me. Unfortunately, I can't find these where I live or on the internet but I plan to track down some mugwort tea.
Another thing to try is visualization before bed. Try imagining purple and white light coming down into the crown of your head and then on your forehead to activate your third eye chakra. I like to imagine the light forming a ball and then spinning in place right over my third eye. You can also try imagining a beam of light forming a figure eight between your third eye and heart, crossing at your throat chakra. This will connect your mind and heart and help to unblock you.
Have fun with it and try to think of your dreams as a gift from the Gods that is offered every night. As long as you are in touch with the deities and your inner wisdom you will be open to receiving these gifts. I have a dream journal with over 500 dreams that I've been adding to for over 20 years. It helps to keep track of the patterns and themes. The more attention and analysis you give to the subconscious mind in your waking life, the more gems it will offer you through dreams, insights and visions.

Hello RougScorpion72
Try to get a hold of a HagStone if you can. This can be bought off ebay. This stone is a stone that has a natural hole in it is said to bring peace while you sleep. My wife has one and wears it as a necklace at night.
Hope this helps
