ok so this is a touch weird but here goes...

In the dream i had this morning (I work nights) I was in a courtyard in a warehouse district. In the courtyard were numerous piles of scrap metal, rundown storage containers and buildings as well as several old cars and trucks that rusted through. Nature had begun to reclaim the land coating everything in plants and trees. In one particular corner there was an old 50's style ford or Chevy pick-up gone to waste like all the others but behind it was a tree that was barren nearest the trunk but had foliage including fruits and blossoms on the ends of the branches. I was walking with some male, I can't place them, when he suddenly pointed to the tree in fear and shock. Since he said nothing I simply followed the direction to which he was pointing and saw a young rattlesnake coiled and hopping, yes hopping from branch to branch. He never left his coiled position and didn't hop like you would imagine a springing cartoon snake would but more like a bounce. As he was bouncing he was eating the insects that were buzzing around the fruits and blossoms. I remember he noticed me but didn't care I was there just as I was unafraid of him. I was more in awe and he was more interested in going about his business that he was in me. Then I woke up.

any ideas? i've been eerily more at peace today than normal if that helps.

Cool. A post-apocalyptic garden of eden.

The man with you was the part of you that is scared. The snake represents your unconscious - the brazen, fearless part of you that jumps from tree to tree, claiming your power. The fact that it was coiled shows that the fearful part of you has some influence, but your power remains. The world around you is a world of soul-less machines, slowly but surely giving way to the laws of nature and magick. This represents how your soul and your world is changing.

Yes, no, maybe so?

so after talking it over with some friends and family here's what we've concluded...

the fact that the world was post apocalyptic we feel is a representation of my giving up the extra baggage I had and my movement toward my new start. (not only my return to my faith but getting back to myself and going back to school to work toward a better quality of life for myself and my loved ones).

this is reconfirmed by the rusted out and abondoned truck which signifies the end of my being stretched too thin.

the man with me is an image of the former me who was too afraid to step away from the known and venture to new things. The me who was constantly worried about others to a point of being a martyr. I still look out for others but I have a new focus on myself since I never did anything for myself to take care of me.

the tree having ripe fruit and showing new growth means signifies my preparedness for the ventures ahead and that my labors have not and will not be in vain nor are they hasty.

the mere fact that nature itself plays so prominently in the dream represents the importance of spirituality in my life.

the snake that happily rids my tree of pests is a showing of my power over my choices and my willingness to fight for what I want now as well as an understanding that cultivation and nurturing of our goals is necessary to their maintenance. However his remaining coiled shows some reluctance to accept that my goals could be achieved.

lastly my apparent lack of fear of the snake itself and my curiosity of it's behavior shows a longing for that control and poise as well as a reverence for the natural order of things within nature and a lack of fear in my abilities.

that's the best we can come up with and it seems to fit with all of the sudden life changes i've made...anyone else have any dreams like this when they've made some significant changes in their life or when they've gone through some form of transformation? Sorry this is just the first time I've have a dream this vivid or one that has left a lasting impression on me.

Wow. I'm way overdue for a profound dream like that. It hasn't happened in a while. I've been taking mugwort before bed and it's increased my dreaming, but it's mostly just random incoherent stuff, nothing like the one you had. I need to start meditating before bed and imagine a spinning ball of light over my third eye to activate my vision. I'll let you know if it works.

Yggdrasil and Nidhogg sounds very fitting here ...
Except that Nidhogg ( the snake/dragon ) does not realy help Yggdrasil ( the world tree ).

Anyways, quite a thinking you have been doing there, wich I still had dreams like that...
