I like runes, but where ever I go, the shapes mean different things. I dont know which is right for a wiccan...

Moonstruck, I would say that you should choose a set that appeals to you and then go with those meanings. Runes are very personal and what is right for one person isn't necessarily right for another.

a word to the wise, be VERY careful with the runes. i've been studing them for months now and if their is one thing i have learned is that the runes have power of their own, and should not be drawn at ones whim on a school paper unless your willing to deal witht he repercutions. a good source of runic study i have found is "Taking up the runes" by Diana L. Paxton. but as a previouse post stated, the meanings of the runes differ from person to person. the best advice i can give ya is to start with the elder futhark, these are the runes that were originally handed down to humanity from odin. then move on to the younger futhark or the angalo saxon futhork ( yes its futhork instead of futhark ),

i hope this post helps you. i apologise if it doesnt

Aye, I have been doing spreads and cast for years without any problems. My casting rituals usually begin with an elaborate invocation of the Norns and a proper paying of respects at the closing to them. Perhaps that has a hand in my never having a problem in cast? And the few times I have used them in enchantments has worked wonderfully as well, even saved my wife in a car accident. Course my process for empowering runes for enchanting objects involves a complicated 24hour empowering ritual lol. The devil is in the details, as they say.

Sounds so mystifyingly wonderful. I've yet to make my runes, in time, still working on finishing my wands. But I am looking forward to slicing my oak branch and then wood burning the futhark letters into the pieces. All inspired by the wonderful people here... Mab

I have received runes (elder futhark) from my family but before I am going to do anything with them, I will do some research :).
Long_death_hero, you really have some good tips.
