I noticed that not a lot of people post in this part of the forum, so I was just wondering why??

What are some things everyone is active and passionate about? What are some things that you believe could use a change? What are everyone's positions on important contemporary issues such as gay rights, pagans rights, abortion, the economy, etc?

If this forum doesn't sound really well constructed, it's because I'm not all that much of an activist myself. I have my views and energy and would like to find a place to send it to help change things.

Phoenix i share your opinion. i also think there should be more activism amoung pagans. i believe we are all very passionate about what we believe, and i am for fighting for that cause. i very much wish to go to a rally, or a march. but i have not found one that i am willing to be jailed for... people should post in this section more and i will try to do so more often.

Wow, this is a pretty interesting topic. I've never really thought about my "activism beliefs" as being at all connected to paganism but I would be very interested to see if many other pagans share similar beliefs to my own.

For my part I think I'm pretty "live and let be" in my beliefs - I'm all for gay rights and I have no problem with abortion - in my mind it's the woman's body and the woman's choice, although I would hope that any woman contemplating abortion would get some counselling just so that she is prepared to deal with the emotional turmoil that I would imagine must follow such a decision.... Hmm, I'm all for animal rights and in my opinion animals are equal to humans in every respect - they deserve proper burials and humane treatment - that said, I'm not vegetarian ... we're naturally omnivores and I don't see a problem with that. When I have more money though I would like to be more careful about where my meat comes from and buy from humane farms instead of the typical factory farm meat that we find in grocery stores.
And as for pagan rights I haven't really heard of their being any real issues as of yet, but I'll definitely look into this now to see what issues might exist out there.

What are some of your beliefs on these issues?

I don't get into political discussion with friends, mainly cause I'm a radical, and most of them are moderates.
Being a gay man, I of course want gay rights. As a former pagan(currently I'm an atheist), I think a person has the right to practice their religion; they shouldn't proseletise or do harm in the process, of course.
Abortion? I think a woman has the right to do what she wants with her body, but I'm not sure when it becomes infanticide in the womb so I'm not gonna touch this issue with a 20 foot pole...

Lately I've been very passionate about infant genital mutilation; regardless of the child's sex I'm absolutely against it. If they wanna mutilate themselves as an adult that's fine, but parents have no right to cut off such an important part of their childs body.

Also, very passionate about our well being as a society. As I've said, I'm a radical. More specifically I'm a socialist. I feel that capitalism is an unjust system that forces some to work, while others just rake in money off their work. Those who are rich enough will never have to so much as lift a finger. And they probably didn't even earn that privilage; most rich people are born rich.
I want private property, all forms of trade, countries, and governments to be abolished(in other words, private property, money, national borders, militaries, and the state apparatus should all cease to exist). Instead I want a society based on common ownership, free access, no artificial borders, and true democracy. I think this can be done only by a peaceful democratic revolution of the vast majority of the working class. They should elect a delegate of socialism into office, who will declare property rights abolished; he acts as a queue to let the revolution commence.
